Barcelona achieved a confident victory over Girona on their home field in the 29th round of the Spanish Primera – 4:1.

The hosts won the first half by a minimal score thanks to an own goal by Ladislav Krejci, who cut the ball into his own net after a free kick by Lamin Yamal.

Arnaud Danjuma equalized early in the second half, but Robert Lewandowski soon restored the status quo. In the 77th minute, the Pole scored twice, securing his place at the top of the Primera's scoring charts with 25 goals.

In the end, Ferran Torres sealed the rout, scoring his fifth goal in the last five league matches.

Girona's Ukrainian legionary Viktor Tsygankov came out in the starting lineup and played 70 minutes. The 27-year-old winger has 23 matches, two goals and four assists this season.

The Blaugrana were able to take convincing revenge on their regional neighbours for their home defeat (2:4) in the last championship – in that match, another Ukrainian, Artem Dovbyk, scored for Girona with an assist from Tsygankov.

Barcelona have regained sole leadership in La Liga, with Real Madrid three points behind and Atletico nine points behind. Girona have extended their winless streak and remain 13th in the table.

On April 2, Hans-Dieter Flick's team will play away against Atlético in the return semi-final of the Spanish Cup (the result of the first meeting is 4:4), and on the 5th they will host Betis in the championship. Girona will play at home against Alaves on the same day.
