Liverpool claimed their 20th league title in history, securing a dominant 5-1 victory over Tottenham at home. Under the leadership of Arne Slot, who took charge after Jürgen Klopp’s departure, the club clinched the Premier League title in his debut season as coach, reports the Baltimore Chronicle.

Despite an early goal from Dominic Solanke, Liverpool quickly regained control of the match. Luis Díaz equalized after a VAR review, and Alexis Mac Allister put Liverpool ahead. Before halftime, Cody Gakpo scored a third, virtually sealing the victory for the Reds.

In the second half, Mohamed Salah added a fourth, increasing his tally for the season to 28 goals. The final blow came from Destiny Udogie, who scored an own goal while attempting to clear a cross from Salah.

Liverpool’s lead at the top of the table had become insurmountable as early as November, aided by the struggles of Arsenal and Manchester City. A draw between Arsenal and Crystal Palace confirmed that Liverpool needed only one point from their final five games to seal the title.

This triumph allowed Liverpool to match Manchester United’s record of 20 top-flight titles in England. Unlike their 2019/20 title win, which was celebrated without fans due to the pandemic, this time the victory was shared with supporters at Anfield. The championship parade is scheduled for May 26, with Jürgen Klopp, who built the current squad, also expected to join the celebrations.

Arne Slot’s appointment proved pivotal as he won 11 of his first 12 matches and led the team through an unbeaten streak that lasted nearly seven months. A key moment in the season was their victory over Brighton in November after losses to their main rivals, Arsenal and Manchester City.

As discussions continue over the futures of key players such as Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, the team has maintained stability and achieved remarkable success.

Earlier we wrote that Van Dijk to stay at Liverpool until 2027.
