Elina Svitolina triumphed in the third round of the WTA 1000 Internazionali BNL d’Italia tournament in Rome. In her match against American Ann Li, the Ukrainian athlete controlled the game with ease, winning 6-3, 6-0, reports the Baltimore Chronicle.

The match lasted just over an hour. Svitolina secured the first set with a three-game advantage, not allowing her opponent any significant threat on her serve. In the second set, the Ukrainian completely dominated the court, winning six consecutive games without any response from Li.

This victory marks Svitolina’s third consecutive win on the Roman courts this year. She had previously defeated Russian Anastasia Potapova and Briton Emma Raducanu. As a result, Elina has ensured her place in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

In the quarterfinals, Svitolina will face the world No. 3, Belarusian tennis player Aryna Sabalenka. This will be the 10th meeting between the two athletes, with the current head-to-head standing at 5-4 in favor of the Belarusian.

The WTA 1000 tournament in Rome is played on clay courts, with a prize fund of over 5 million euros.
