The first half of the meeting passed without goals. Mauricio Pochettino's men attacked more, but failed to convert their chances.
The Blues had their best chance in the 32nd minute – Raheem Sterling took the ball from the Wolves defender and went on a date with the opposing goalkeeper. The Englishman could have passed to an empty net to Nicholas Jackson or Cole Palmer, but instead unsuccessfully shot at the goalkeeper.
