Swedish athlete Armand Duplantis set a new world record in the pole vault.

At the first stage of the Diamond League season in Xiamen, China, he took first In his attempts, he cleared the bar at a height of 6.24 meters.

The 24-year-old Swede beat the previous world record by one centimeter – 6.23 meters, which he set in the 2023 Diamond League finals in Eugene, America.

Duplantis updated the world record in the pole vault for the eighth time in his career. He now holds nine of the top ten pole vaults in history.

The silver medalist of the Diamond League stage in Xiamen was American Sam Kendris, who achieved a height of 5.82 meters. Chinese Huang Bokai (5.72 meters) closed the top three winners.

Duplantis is the Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion, multiple world and European champion, winner of the Diamond League finals 2021, 2022 and 2023.
