Kostyuk defeated the Russian and for the first time in her career reached the semifinals of the WTA 1000 tournament

Marta knocked out the second tennis player from a terrorist state from the competition in Indian Wells in a row.

Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk reached the semifinals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells (USA).

In the quarterfinals, a 21-year-old native of Kiev ( No. 32 WTA) defeated the Russian Anastasia Potapova (No. 33 WTA), who, due to the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, was allowed to compete only in a neutral status.

The match lasted 1 hour 10 minutes and ended in the triumph of the Ukrainian with a score 6:0, 7:5.

During the fight, Marta served straight once, made 4 double faults and used 7 out of 10 break points.

Thus, Kostyuk will play in the semi-finals of the WTA 1000 tournament for the first time in his career.

For a ticket to the final, Marta will fight with the winner of the match between the world’s first racket, Poland’s Iga Szwiatek, and the former world ranking leader, Australian Open 2018 champion Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark.

Let us remind you that Kostyuk is the only Ukrainian who continues to compete in Indian Wells. In the 1/8 finals, Marta confidently beat another tennis player from a terrorist state, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
