Mark Tibbs is convinced that the Briton will cope with the Ukrainian if he prepares well for the fight.

Mark Tibbs, former trainer of ex-heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte, shared his thoughts on the fight between the world champion WBO, WBA, IBO and IBF Alexander Usik and WBC title holder Tyson Fury.

According to the specialist, the “Gypsy King” will use his size advantage to defeat the Ukrainian. At the same time, he admitted that in case of inadequate preparation for the fight, the British success will be in question.

“I have always preferred Fury for one simple reason: he is a bigger beast, a natural heavyweight compared to a pumped-up cruiser However, Usik is an excellent boxer, he has dealt with all the top heavyweights in the world, including Anthony Joshua, whom Usik defeated twice.

The cut puzzled me a little, but I have to bet on my friend Tyson Fury, our British guy. He'll have to take care of his cut, but I still think he'll win because he's a big beast.

But if Tyson doesn't prepare well, things will go wrong. I'm betting on Fury. He will have to work hard in this fight. Tyson will understand how to hold Usyk on the front hand, handle him and put him on his heels. Fury will still box, but he will prevent Usyk from looking as good as always,” Boxing Social quotes Tibbs as saying.

The Usyk-Fury fight will take place on May 18 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The fight was scheduled for February 17, but due to an injury the Briton received during one of the sparrings, it had to be postponed.

To avoid another breakdown of the fight, the organizers established sanctions, which will be applied to Usik or Fury if one of them does not enter the ring on May 18. Boxersface a huge fineif they refuse to fight on the scheduled date.

The winner of the Usyk-Fury fight will become the first undisputed world champion in the heavyweight division in the 21st century.

The last “absolute” in the heavyweight division was Lennox Lewis, who achieved this status in 1999 when he defeated Evander Holyfield. Back then, the WBA, WBC and IBF titles were at stake. The WBO belt was recognized as equal in 2007, so the winner of the fight between Usik and Fury will become the first “absolute” heavyweight champion in history with four major titles.
