The Ukrainian national ice hockey team defeated the Chinese team in the third round match of the 2024 World Championship strong> in Division IB with a score of 9:0.
In the first period, the “blue-yellows” scored four times in the opponent’s goal – goals were scored by Igor Merezhko, Alexander Peresunko, Philipp Pangelov -Yuldashev and Alexey Vorona.
In the second 20 minutes, Dmitry Khristich's team increased its advantage to six goals through the efforts of Vitaliy Lyalka and Peresunko, who scored a double.
The third period also ended in triumph for the Ukrainians, who scored three more goals – accurate shots were struck by Lyalka and Merezhko, thus making duplicates. Andrey Deniskin scored another goal.
For the Ukrainian team, this is the third consecutive victory at the 2024 World Cup, which is being held in Lithuania. In the opening match, our team defeatedEstonia (8:0), and in the second round beat The Netherlands (4:0).
After three matches played, the “blue-yellows” continue to lead the Division standings with 9 points IB, three points ahead of Lithuania (with a match in hand) and China. The Netherlands, Spain and Estonia have not yet scored points.

Note that the Ukrainian national team is playing in the third strongest division of the world hockey championship for the fifth time in a row. The winner of the division will receive a ticket to the second division (IA) of the World Championship next year. The team that takes last place will be relegated to the fourth division (IIA).
