Audi has unveiled a new generation of the A6. For the first time in history, the car is available in Europe only as a station wagon called Avant. The sedan will appear later and only on the Chinese market.
RBC-Ukraine reports this with reference to the company’s press service.
The model is based on the PPC (Premium Platform Combustion) platform, which is a further evolution of the MLB Evo platform. This means that unification with the Audi A6 e-tron electric vehicles is small and extends only to individual units and components.
Compared to the previous model, the new station wagon has become 60 mm longer (4999 mm), but the width is now 6 mm less (1880 mm). The Audi A6 Avant has carefully designed aerodynamics: the declared Cd coefficient is 0.25. The front bumper has active flaps that open only on command from the electronics.
The interior is designed in the same way as other modern Audis. The front panel is equipped with two screens in a single curved housing: an 11.9-inch “instrument panel” and a 14.5-inch multimedia display. A third 10.9-inch screen in front of the passenger is offered for an additional fee.
Among the options there is a panoramic roof, which does not have a sliding section and curtain, but there is the possibility of darkening individual sectors. Also offered for an extra charge is a Bang & Olufsen audio system and four-zone climate control with an air ionizer. The trunk, compared to the previous generation car, has become noticeably smaller: 503 liters and 1,534 liters with the second row folded, while before it was 565 and 1,680 liters, respectively.
The Audi A6 Avant station wagons will be equipped with the MHEV Plus hybrid system, which includes not only a 48-volt starter-generator with a belt drive, but also a separate traction electric motor, which is attached to the gearbox and transmits traction to the output shaft through a single-stage gearbox. The power of this motor is only 24 hp, it allows you to move on pure electric traction, for example, when parking. And in other modes, this electric motor simply helps the internal combustion engine and provides recuperation of up to 25 kW. It is powered by a lithium-iron-phosphate battery with a capacity of 1.7 kW * h.
Several engines are offered for the car: 2.0 TDI with 204 hp, petrol turbo engine V6 3.0 TFSI (367 hp), as well as the basic petrol version – 2.0 TFSI (204 hp). All three versions work with a seven-speed “robot” S tronic with two clutches.
Production of the Audi A6 model will begin at a plant in Germany; the new generation station wagons will appear on the European market in May at a price starting from 58 thousand euros.
