With a noticeable increase: how many cars were bought in the world in February

In February 2025, the global auto market grew by eight percent. Global sales of new passenger cars and commercial vehicles amounted to 6,565,191 units, up 8.3 percent from the same month in 2024.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Autocar.

However, compared to January 2025, sales decreased: then 6,782,098 cars were sold. The most noticeable growth in the year-on-year comparison was noted in China.

China remains the largest auto market on the planet. In February, 1,626,137 cars were sold there, which is 36 percent more than in the last winter month of 2024. But the Chinese market also noticeably sagged by January 2025, when 1,963,464 cars were sold.

The US February result was 1,230,461 vehicles, which is 1.8 percent less than the February 2024 figure. In Western Europe, demand fell by 4.4 percent, to 974,698 units, in Eastern Europe – by 10.6 percent, to 310,727 units.

Thus, dealers sold 213,842 cars in South America (+19.6 percent), 405,663 cars in Japan (18.7 percent), 130,926 in South Korea (14.8 percent) and 115,080 in Canada. In total, 13,328,826 cars were sold worldwide in the first two months of 2025, 4.6 percent more than a year earlier.

Let us recall that earlier the analytical agency Focus2move, which studies the markets of 159 countries of the world, compiled a list of the most successful automakers. Toyota confidently holds the lead.
