Honda is aggressively introducing artificial intelligence and advanced robots at its new electric vehicle plant.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Carscoops.
The company says that by using automation and artificial intelligence, it needs 30% fewer workers at one of its manufacturing sites in China than at a traditional factory. While machines and robots have not yet completely replaced factory workers, the new technologies Honda is using are making it much easier to automate production.
The Japanese brand recently began production of the Ye P7 all-electric SUV with local joint venture partner Guangzhou Automobile Group. The Guangzhou plant uses automated guided vehicles to move critical vehicle components around the plant, including heavy battery packs.
Honda adds that it is also using AI technology to optimize the welding process for the new electric SUV. With China quickly becoming the world's largest market for electric vehicles, the Japanese automaker cannot afford to fall behind its competitors.
