The U.S. Department of Defense has approved the sale of two military aid packages to Ukraine. The first package includes HAWK Phase III air defense systems and their maintenance, while the second package covers the supply of Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and related repair services, reports Baltimore Chronicle, citing the Pentagon’s website.
The first package involves technical support for the HAWK missile system, including the provision of five-ton cargo trucks, spare parts for the HAWK system, as well as the repair and overhaul of HAWK surface-to-air missile launchers. In addition, the package includes toolkits, testing and auxiliary equipment, technical documentation, and training. The U.S. government and contractors will also provide technical and field support. The total cost of this package is estimated at $172 million.
The second package concerns the acquisition of equipment and services to restore the Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, along with technical assistance, training, and additional logistical and programmatic support. The total cost of this package is $150 million.
