Since his second term in the White House, President Donald Trump has significantly undermined the authority of the United States on the global stage, turning the country into an object of international ridicule and diminishing its influence, reports Baltimore Chronicle with reference to Womove.

The American magazine The Atlantic notes that Trump has lost the respect of world leaders and dictators, which became particularly evident when he was not invited to the Beijing summit marking the 80th anniversary of Japan’s surrender in World War II. Despite the United States playing a key role in defeating the Japanese Empire, the Chinese Communist Party now claims much of this historical success as its own.

According to the article, Trump’s response to the U.S. being sidelined on the international stage was unusually passive for a global superpower leader. Instead of taking diplomatic measures, he posted on social media, calling the events in Beijing a “conspiracy against the United States,” which critics say only highlighted the country’s weakened position in global affairs.

This episode further underscores the declining authority of the United States in the world and raises questions about its role as an undisputed leader in international politics, the publication emphasizes.
