Survey Today in Ukraine, 30% of the population uses tobacco or nicotine products: 43% men and 20% women.
Researcher, project coordinator of the Kiev International Institute of Sociology Alexander Shcherbatyuk reported this during the press -conference “Results of a survey on the use of tobacco and nicotine products among young people in Ukraine” at the UKMC, reports an Ukrinform correspondent.
«According to the survey, today in Ukraine 30% of the population uses tobacco or nicotine products : 43% men and 20% women,” said Shcherbatyuk.
He noted that 24.5% of Ukrainians are daily smokers – 36% men, 15% women.
The researcher informed that according to the results of the study, among daily consumers, 79% smoke industrial cigarettes. This is followed by electric heated tobacco products (18%) and e-cigarettes (14%). products for electric heating, 36% –; electronic cigarettes.
Women are more likely than men to use electric tobacco products (27% vs. 13%) and e-cigarettes (25% vs. 11%).
The survey was conducted in December 2023 as part of the regular “Omnibus” public organization “Life” together with researchers from the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology. The adult population aged 18 years and older was surveyed. A total of 2,009 people took part in the study.
As Ukrinform reported, in Ukraine smoking annually claims an average of 130 thousand lives.
