Photo A robot surgeon Da Vinci Si appeared at the St. Nicholas Hospital in Lviv. This is a modern robotic system for prompt assistance to children.

“We have been operating robotic surgery for three years now – with the Da Vinci robot we operated on both children and adults at St. Panteleimon Hospital. We performed the largest number of operations on children in Eastern Europe – 40, not counting adults. But it would be inconvenient to constantly transport children from St. Nicholas Hospital to St. Panteleimon Hospital for surgery and then transport them back. And we always dreamed that there would be one Da Vinci robot for adults, and one for; for children. The Meest Express company helped us with this, and now we have two Da Vinci,” said Oleg Samchuk, General Director of the First Medical Association of Lvov.
The cost of the robotic system including delivery was $200 thousand.
It is noted that thanks to Da Vinci Si, adapted for the operation of even newborn babies, the number of interventions is planned to be doubled – that is, up to a hundred per year.
Among the advantages of Da Vinci robotic surgery, recovery after the most complex operations is said to be faster. As well as minimizing blood loss, the risk of damage to surrounding organs, storing nerve fibers, arteries and veins with maximum precision, which helps prevent complications. Patients operated on using Da Vinci can be discharged 2-3 days after the intervention.
As Ukrinform reported, on January 30, 2024, cardiac surgeons at the St. Panteleimon Hospital of the First Medical Association of Lviv performed the first heart surgery in Ukraine using Da Vinci , saving a man with a pre-heart attack.
