Previously, the tariff was at the level of 2.64 UAH/kWh.
B Currently, the Ukrainian government has no plans for a new increase in electricity prices. In May, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the decision to establish a single fixed price for individual and collective household consumers at the level of 4.32 UAH kWh – until April 30, 2025.
Deputy Minister of Energy Svetlana Grinchuk spoke about this in an interview with OBOZ .UA
“This tariff, effective from June 1, covers exclusively the cost of electricity production by two state-owned energy companies (Energoatom and Ukrhydroenergo), as well as the transmission of electricity, its distribution in the regions and delivery to the consumer. At the same time, the market cost of electricity is about 7.5 UAH/kWh. That is, the electricity tariff for the population in Ukraine is subsidized by the state,” the representative of the Ministry of Energy emphasized.
She noted that previously the tariff was at the level of 2.64 UAH/kWh. Then the state also subsidized the population, because this tariff did not cover a significant share of the real price.
“Due to significant destruction of energy facilities, the state must spend large amounts of money on their restoration so that people have light, and cannot financially support the population in the same volumes as before,” says Grinchuk.
However, despite the difficult situation in the energy sector, the state continues to compensate part of the tariff for household consumers – the difference between the market price of electricity and the tariff established for the population. According to her, the preferential price is possible thanks to the PSO mechanism (special duties to ensure public interests in the process of functioning of the electric energy market).
As reported, in Ukraine, the cost of utility services has increased significantly. Over the year, tariffs increased by a total of 18.6%.
