The indexation of the minimum pension did not even compensate for inflation
Over the past three months, the average pension in Ukraine has increased by 73 UAH and now amounts to 5816 UAH. In January 2024, it was 5385 UAH. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the pension has increased from UAH 3,991 to UAH 5,816.
This is reported by OBOZ.UA.
The average pension has increased by 45.7%, which is more than the inflation rate for this period, which was 35.5%. This means that the increase in pensions should cover the rise in prices for goods and services.
Since January 2022, the minimum pension has increased from UAH 1,934 to UAH 2,361, which is 22%. This increase could not even compensate for inflation, so people receiving the minimum pension have lost more.
The highest average pension is for judges: at the beginning of 2022, it was UAH 90,822, and now it is UAH 105,604. The judges succeeded in having the limitation of their payments declared illegal and continue to receive unlimited pensions under a special law.
Recall that in Ukraine some pensioners will be left without payments in July because they missed mandatory identification.
