Defenders of Ukraine exempted from paying military tax.
In Ukraine a number of citizens are exempt from paying military tax.

In particular, in July 2022, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law according to which military personnel are exempt from this tax, namely:
- Armed Forces of Ukraine
- National guard
- Security Service of Ukraine
- Foreign Intelligence Service
- State Border Service
- employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs
- State Security Department
- State Special Communications Service
All other categories of citizens will not be exempt from paying military tax.
Recall that the Verkhovna Rada recently approved a bill providing for an increase in taxes.
People's Deputy of Ukraine from the political party “Voice” Yaroslav Zheleznyak noted that the Tax Committee of the Verkhovna Rada accepted for a second first reading the government bill on increasing taxes 11416-d. 19 deputies voted for the bill, 1 voted against, and three abstained.
In particular, the bill provides for:
- increasing the military tax from 1.5% to 5%
- increasing taxes for groups 1-2 of sole proprietors
- advance payments at gas stations
- 1% for all forms of sole proprietors of the 3rd group
- 25% of profits for financial institutions
- monthly personal income tax reporting (for economic reservation)
- 50% tax on bank profits in 2024
