Problems with flour began in the spring, and despite the new harvest, the situation is getting more complicated.
In Ukraine, since the beginning of 2024, prices for bread and bakery products have noticeably increased. Scientists predict that in December these products may rise in price by another 3-5%.

Since the beginning of autumn, the raw materials for bread production, according to scientist Svetlana Cheremisina, have also continued to rise in price. During October-November 2024, the price of flour increased by another 2.8% – to 18.66 hryvnia per kilogram, sunflower oil increased in price by 3.3% – to 65.02 hryvnia per kilogram. The only exception is sugar, which fell in price by 4.4% over this period, to UAH 33.55 per kilogram.
Cheremisina noted that wheat bread made from premium flour rose in price to UAH 49.90 per kilogram (+13.2%), wheat bread made from first-grade flour – to UAH 40.81 (+14.2%), rye bread – to UAH 49.90, UAH 42.67 (+14.1%).
“A loaf of bread has increased in price by 14.0% and now costs UAH 26.26 per 500 grams,” the expert said.
Earlier it was reported that in December 2024, vegetables could rise in price by up to 15%, and fruits – up to 10%. In particular, the price of white cabbage may rise to 33 hryvnia, onions – to 20 hryvnia, and potatoes – to 37 hryvnia.
Meat prices will traditionally continue to rise before the New Year. Before the holidays, retail prices for these types of meat may increase by up to 9%.
