Beets have increased in price. Analysts have named the reasons for the increase.
In Ukraine, there has been an increase in prices for table beets. This happened due to a reduction in the stocks of commercial-quality beets.
This was reported by analysts of the EastFruit project.
According to market participants, the rise in price in this segment is explained by a noticeable reduction in products on the market.
“To date, the sale of beets from unequipped storage facilities is almost complete, and the supply of substandard products has also noticeably decreased, which in turn allowed producers to raise prices for quality vegetables,” the report says.
Analysts added that at present, beet prices in Ukraine are already on average 35% higher than for the same period in 2024. But market participants do not rule out that the upward price trend may be temporary.
They explained that further price increases may motivate farmers to start selling beets from storage, which will lead to increased supplies and, as a result, lower prices in this segment.
Recall that annual inflation in Ukraine has grown by 12% over the past year, including 1.4% in December (compared to the previous month). This is evidenced by data from the State Statistics Service.
Prices for food and housing and communal services, education and health in 2024 increased, while prices for clothing and footwear decreased. Economists say that global factors played a significant role in this.
