Ukrainians are being denied subsidies en masse: what are the reasons

The subsidy can be renewed after a new application.

Ukrainians whose utility costs exceed the established mandatory payment are provided with a subsidy. However, there is a risk that some citizens may lose the right to receive this assistance.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Social Policy.

One of the main reasons for refusing to provide a subsidy is too large a housing area. If the area of the apartment exceeds 130 square meters, and the house – 230 square meters, the subsidy will not be assigned.

An exception is made for:

  • large families
  • family-type orphanages
  • foster families and housing registered to several personal accounts

In addition to the large area of the housing, there are other reasons why a housing subsidy may not be assigned.

Additional property and housing

If, 12 months before submitting the application, one of the household members made a purchase or financial transaction in the amount of more than 50 thousand hryvnia, this may be the reason for refusing the subsidy. Such transactions include:

  • purchase of real estate, cars, financial assets, building materials
  • significant one-time expenses for services (except for medical, educational and utility services)
  • large money transfers, investments, purchase of foreign currency

Also, the subsidy will not be provided if the applicant has more than one residential property (except for dormitories, rural houses or housing in temporarily occupied territories).

They will also refuse if the household has:

  • a car manufactured less than 5 years ago
  • more than one vehicle under 15 years old
  • Debts are another reason for refusal

In addition, the subsidy may not be provided if:

  • household members do not have an official income
  • their average income is less than the minimum wage
  • the unified social contribution has not been paid in the last three months (ESV)

Earlier it was reported that Ukrainians could lose their subsidy because of a relative. Read more about this in the news.
