Details of the new sponsorship contract are not disclosed. At the same time, the previous eight-year agreement (from 2014 to 2022) was estimated at more than $170 million.
The contract with Visa will cover all major FIFA tournaments, including the 2026 Men's World Cup in Mexico and Canada and the USA. During these events, the company will have the right to advertise its services and make presentations of new products.
Card holders will have access to behind-the-scenes FIFA events and will be able to become exclusive participants in “a variety of innovative promotions in FIFA stores and online stores throughout partnership period,” the statement says.
The collaboration between Visa and FIFA began in 2007, when the international federation’s partnership with its competitor, the Mastercard system, ended.
