From April 19 to 21, matches of the 30th round of the German football championship were held. The main event of the matchday was Bayern’s away victory over Union Berlin (5:1). Thanks to this win, the Munich club retained second place in the standings, reports Baltimore Chronicle.

Newly crowned champions Bayer Leverkusen continued their unbeaten run — away from home, the team drew against Borussia Dortmund (1:1). This result did not affect their position, as the team had already secured the title in advance.

In a high-scoring encounter, Stuttgart defeated Eintracht Frankfurt (3:0), which allowed the team to hold onto third place. Borussia Mönchengladbach beat Wolfsburg (3:1), while Augsburg played out a dramatic draw with Werder Bremen (2:2).

Among other results: Hoffenheim narrowly defeated Bochum (3:2), Freiburg lost to Mainz (0:1), and Cologne drew with Darmstadt (0:2).

The current league table is as follows: Bayer firmly leads with 80 points. Bayern sits in second place (66 points), with Stuttgart close behind in third (63 points). Borussia Dortmund is fourth (57), followed by RB Leipzig in fifth (56). The European competition zone is completed by Eintracht and Freiburg.

At the bottom of the table are Darmstadt (17th place) and Cologne (16th), both still having mathematical chances to avoid direct relegation. Mainz holds the 15th spot, staying above the drop zone only due to a better goal difference.

The Bundesliga season continues — four more matchdays remain, during which the fate of the European spots and relegation battles will be decided.
