“We are increasing support because there is a need for it and it is a significant contribution to peace and stability in Europe,” Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said after the meeting.

Currently, NOK 35 billion ($3.2 billion) has been allocated in support until 2025.

The money will go to the most important areas that are a priority for Ukraine.

“We have a big responsibility to make sure that the money is well controlled and gets to where it needs to go,” Stere said.

Let us recall

Norway last year approved the 75 billion Norwegian crown ($6.9 billion) Nansen program, which provides long-term support for Ukraine through 2027 — 15 billion ($1.4 billion) Norwegian crowns annually. But this year, Norwegian authorities proposed increasing funding for the program to 135 billion crowns ($12.4 billion) and extending it for another three years, until 2030.
