How prices have changed
“Yes, this week Ukrainian farmers are offering carrots for sale at an average of 10% cheaper than at the end of the last working week. Shipments of this product are already underway today at 25-32 UAH/kg (0.60-0.77 USD/kg),” the report says.
Producers believe that the increase in the supply of substandard carrots on the market has a negative impact on prices. In particular, the warm winter has worsened the quality of products in the refrigerators of small farms, which is forcing farmers to sell off their existing stocks.
At the same time, market players note that owners of quality carrots who do not have problems with storage prefer to suspend the sale of existing stocks.
The project analysts noted that, despite the current price reduction, carrots in Ukraine are on average three times more expensive than in the same period last year. Most market participants predict a further price reduction, which is due to the relatively low trading activity in this segment.
