In February 2025, the number of new car registrations in the European Union decreased by 3.4% year-on-year to 853,670 units, UkrAvtoProm reports, citing data from the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA).

In particular, the largest EU markets saw a decline:
- Italy (-6%), Germany (-4.6%), France (-3.3%).
Only such segments of the car market as electric vehicles (BEV) and hybrids (HEV) demonstrated positive dynamics. Moreover, hybrids (HEV) captured the largest share of the new passenger car market – 35.2%.
New car registration in the EU by power source:
- Hybrids (HEV) — 304,062 units (+19%); Gasoline cars — 244,073 (-22%); Electric vehicles (BEV) — 131,275 units (+24%); Diesel — 80,569 (-29%); Plug-in hybrids — 63,570 (-1%); Others — 30,121 (-0%).
According to the results of the first two months of 2025, the market for new passenger cars in the EU decreased by 3% to 1,685,640 units.
