In Ukraine, there will be no increase in the profit tax for banks in 2025. The head of the Tax Committee of the Verkhovna Rada, Danilo Getmantsev, announced this at the All-Ukrainian Forum on Financial Technologies.

According to him, the forum discussed the content and prospects of all financial bills currently being considered by the Committee. Special attention was paid to increasing the profit tax on banks in 2025.
“There are no such prospects. And it's not even about the economic grounds for such a decision, it's about the decision of the Constitutional Court, which interpreted the principle of tax stability and the impossibility of a retroactive tax increase in January 2025,” Getmantsev said.

First Deputy Head of the National Bank of Ukraine Kateryna Rozhkova stated that the repeated retrospective increase in the bank profit tax from 25% to 50% led to a reduction in the capital of the banking system. This in turn reduced the banks' ability to increase their loan portfolio by 20%.
