Electric vehicles captured almost 11% of the January new passenger car market in the EU

In January 2024, 851,690 new passenger cars were sold on EU markets, which is 12% more than a year earlier. This is evidenced by ACEA data, reports Ukravtoprom.

Significant growth occurred in all major markets of the bloc:

    Germany (+19.1%), Italy (+10.6%), France (+9 .2%), Spain (+7.3%).

Electric vehicles (BEV) accounted for 10.9% of the market share (compared to 9.5% in January 2023), and hybrid vehicles (HEV and PHEV) accounted for almost 37% (in January 2023 g. – 33%).

The total market share of gasoline and diesel cars was less than 50% versus almost 54% last year.

Gasoline cars accounted for 35.2% of sales of new passenger cars cars (in January 2023 – 37.9%), and diesel – 13.4% (in January 2023 – 15.8%).

The “Ministry of Finance” wrote that in January 2024, the Ukrainian vehicle fleet was replenished with more than 3.5 thousand vehicles powered by battery power sources (BEV). Compared to January last year, the demand for electric vehicles increased 2.8 times.
