Former judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Viktor Shishkin explained whether it would be legal to deprive the citizenship of mobilization evaders who are abroad.
He noted that the deprivation of Ukrainian citizenship of men who fled abroad from mobilization would be unconstitutional.
«In accordance with Article 25 of the Constitution, a citizen of Ukraine cannot be deprived of citizenship. He can change his citizenship at his own request. Our men fled abroad – yes, this is bad. But we are not talking about legal, but about public responsibility,” explained the ex-judge of the Constitutional Court.
At the same time, Shishkin called the conversations about the possibility of depriving the citizenship of draft dodgers from military service as provocative.
«We need to look for other forms of solving this problem», he added.
