The defense ministers of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia signed an agreement on January 19 to create a common line of defense. In particular, Estonia will build approximately 600 concrete bunkers on its eastern border to repel potential Russian aggression, some of them will be located near Lake Peipus.
The bunkers on the border, according to ministers, are needed in order to, if necessary, protect Estonian territory from the very first meter.
Other obstacles, such as barbed wire fences and mines, will be kept close to the border and will be installed directly in case of danger.
“The war in Ukraine has reduced Russia’s offensive power, but, according to various estimates, it is ready to restore it within two to three years. We must be prepared and make the cost of an attack on Estonia for Russia as high as possible,” said Advisor to the Vice-Chancellor of the Estonian Ministry of Defense Kaido Tiitus.
We will remind you that it was previously reported how long the war in Ukraine will last: Western intelligence agencies gave their forecast.
