Chairwoman of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matvienko said that in this way Simonyan “crossed all the red lines.”
“I would like to ask my colleague, the chairman of the Armenian parliament, a question: on whose behalf did he voice such stories? Certainly not on behalf of the Armenian people, with whom Russia has a centuries-old friendship. We cannot ignore this kind of Russophobic speech», — she said.
Matvienko also instructed the senators to prepare and send a request to the Armenian parliament in connection with the “anti-Russian” statements of the speaker of the Armenian parliament.
“I would send a written request to the Armenian parliament asking on whose behalf he spoke and whether the Armenian parliament shares the assessments expressed at this meeting. We will not ignore this kind of Russophobic, anti-Russian speech. It was just a shame for our colleague that he had already crossed all the red lines», — added Matvienko.
Simonyan’s speech was also commented on by the Chairman of the International Committee of the Federation Council of Russia Grigory Karasin, saying that the Armenian speaker’s statement had an “unfriendly tone.”
