President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky has urged Ukrainian diplomats to seek permission to use long-range weapons provided by Western allies. This statement was made on August 19 at a meeting with the heads of Ukrainian diplomatic missions abroad.
The details are reported by the OPU press service “URA-Inform”.
Zelensky stressed that lifting restrictions on the use of such weapons for strikes on Russian territory could change the situation at the front. In his opinion, the absence of these restrictions would free Ukraine from the need to conduct physical operations in border areas such as the Kursk region to protect citizens and neutralize Russian military capabilities.
“Russian military installations, including bases, airfields and logistics centers, are legitimate targets for Ukrainian defense. These structures support the ability The Kremlin should avoid seeking a peaceful resolution to the conflict,” — added Zelensky.
He also stressed the importance of long-range capabilities for Ukraine to protect itself from Russian missiles and air bombs, as well as to effectively move troops and apply pressure on key fronts.
“This long-range capability is necessary for protection of our troops and is a key element of our defense,” he noted.
Against this background, it is worth mentioning that Zelensky has new problems with former President Petro Poroshenko.
