Company Ukrenergo reported that on November 18, the level of electricity consumption decreased by 7% compared to the previous working day.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to RBC-Ukraine.
This reduction is due to emergency power outages in the Odessa region and an increase in air temperature, which reduced the need for electric heating. However, despite the temporary reduction in load, a significant power deficit remains in the Ukrainian energy system.
The company urges citizens not to turn on several powerful electrical appliances at the same time between 06:00 and 22:00.
Expert Gennady Ryabtsev suggested that the planned shutdown schedules could be temporarily cancelled in the next two to three days if the weather conditions remain favorable. However, the restoration of shutdowns will depend on the air temperature: when the temperature drops to -5 and below, the likelihood of introducing schedules increases sharply.
Low temperatures increase the load on equipment and increase the likelihood of its breakdown. In addition, extreme weather conditions such as heavy snowfalls and icing can also lead to emergency shutdowns.
Russian attacks on infrastructure remain the main risk factor for the stability of the energy system. According to experts, hourly shutdowns will likely be necessary throughout the winter and until the end of the heating season.
Russian strikes cause significant damage to energy facilities, and despite measures to restore them, the risk of further interruptions in electricity supplies is high.
Meanwhile, a promising forecast has emerged for the war in Ukraine.
