Ukraine is faced with unprecedented challenges in matters of mobilization and ensuring defense capability.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to the Resident Telegram channel.
According to official data, the number of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reached one million back in 2022, but hundreds of thousands more have been mobilized since then. However, as the source says, the question remains: what are the real losses of the army, and are the current measures enough to hold positions on the front?
“According to independent experts, the numbers of wounded and killed significantly exceed the official figures. They claim that the real losses have long exceeded half a million people, but the exact information remains classified,” the statement said.
It is claimed that this is being done to avoid panic among the civilian population and maintain stability in society. However, such measures undermine the trust of citizens and give rise to rumors, which can lead to even greater tension.
In an interview with BBC Ukraine, a source in the General Staff said:
“The current rate of mobilization does not cover the level of current losses. This raises serious concerns, since a long war requires constant replenishment of the combat-ready contingent.”
The interlocutor also hinted at the need to revise the mobilization age. Although Washington insists on lowering the minimum age for conscription, Kyiv does not yet support this initiative, fearing a negative reaction from society.
Meanwhile, air raid sirens may become more frequent in two regions of Ukraine.
