The Slovak Prime Minister believes that the EU will face additional costs due to the suspension of Russian gas supplies.
This was reported by URA-Inform with reference to Bloomberg.
In connection With this, Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico threatened that his country could stop supplying electricity to Ukraine if it did not agree to resume the transit of Russian gas through its territory.
He once again emphasized that Ukraine's decision to stop the transit of Russian gas through its territory “is not just an empty political gesture” and will have consequences for the entire European Union. Moreover, according to Fico, this is also an “extremely expensive step” for which the EU will pay.
At the same time, he added that if Ukraine does not abandon its decision, it may be left without Slovak electricity.
“After January 1, we will assess the situation and possible reciprocal measures against Ukraine. If necessary, we will stop the supply of electricity, which is urgently needed by Ukraine during network shutdowns,” the Slovak Prime Minister said.
