Numismatics is not not only an exciting hobby, but also a way to earn money. In Ukraine, owners of old coins can earn thousands of hryvnias if they come across a rare specimen sought after by collectors. Online auctions such as Violity regularly feature ads for high-stakes coins, and sometimes rare specimens can bring real money.

This is reported by URA-Inform.

1. A 25-kopek coin from 1992

One of the striking examples is a 25 kopeck coin from 1992, put up for auction by a user with the nickname Suworovvetal. The peculiarity of this coin is that one of its sides is turned 180 degrees. This is a rare defect that occurs due to the incorrect placement of the sketches during the carving process. At the moment, the cost of such a coin is 1,999 UAH, and traders have the opportunity to raise the price within a few days.

2. A 10 kopeck coin from 1994

Another rare coin is a 10 kopeck coin from 1994 with the 2BAm stamp, put up for sale for 10,000 UAH. Collectors value such coins for their unique features, and if all the characteristics match, such a coin can cost an average of 5,000-6,000 UAH. However, there are cases when the price can significantly exceed these figures.

3. 25 kopeck coins from 1995

25 kopeck coins from 1995 are also quite rare, which affects their price at auctions. One user put such a coin up for sale for 8,000 UAH. In this case, the exact mintage is unknown, which increases the interest of collectors. The price may vary depending on the condition of the coin – the absence of damage and scratches also affects the final cost.

In addition to Ukrainian coins, numismatists also actively sell old kopecks from the Soviet Union. Coins made of gold and other precious metals that were issued more than 50 years ago can bring significant money to their owners.

We would like to note separately that we previously reported on why Poles call people vegetables and what popular “swear words” mean.
