It is noted that we are talking about the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi. It was he who planned a visit to Kyiv and a visit to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in the coming week.
It is known that this is already the fourth visit of the head of the IAEA, who crosses the front line to visit the Zaporizhia NPP. Currently, all six of the plant's reactors have been shut down for nearly a year and a half, producing no electricity but still containing large quantities of nuclear fuel that require proper conservation, including proper cooling and protection, according to the press service.
Before his visit to ZNPP, Grossi plans to hold high-level negotiations in Kyiv. Its goal is to make progress on several important issues, including potential risks associated with the maintenance of nuclear power plant equipment.
It will also highlight issues regarding Zaporizhia NPP staffing, requesting additional information about why employees « ;Energoatom» do not have access to the plant.
Grossi noted the importance of having highly qualified and experienced personnel at Zaporizhia NPP to ensure nuclear and physical safety. He also expressed concern that the number of personnel has been significantly reduced since the start of the war almost two years ago, and intends to discuss these issues during his visit to Zaporizhzhya NPP next week.
