Prime Minister Robert Fico said that the Italian SAMP/T air defense system will be withdrawn from Slovakia.

«I received a message from the Italian government that the Italian air defense system, which they provided to us for a year, will be withdrawn from Slovakia , because they need her elsewhere», — stated the Prime Minister.
According to him, strategic objects, in particular nuclear power plants, remain unprotected. Fico added that the previous government «gave» Ukraine has a working Russian S-300 air defense system.
«Then we had American Patriot systems for some time, then they left, and now too The Italians are coming,” the prime minister complained.
It is worth noting that the Italian SAMP/T air defense system replaced the American Patriot last year. Slovakia provided Ukraine with the S-300 after the large-scale invasion of the Russian Federation in 2022.
