In Brandenburg, 30 MPs from the Uckermark district, representing different political parties, signed an open letter calling on the German government to stop arms supplies to Ukraine.

This information was reported by Spiegel, URA-Inform reports.

Politicians appealed to Chancellor Olaf Scholz and President of the Bundestag Bärbel Bas with a demand to “take responsibility for a peaceful resolution of the conflict instead of further supplies of weapons.”

They expressed concern about the further escalation of the war and believe that Germany should “do everything possible to initiate diplomatic solutions to end the war and promote peaceful coexistence between peoples.” Although the letter condemns Russia's attack on Ukraine, there are no details about war crimes or references to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

Although the letter was signed by representatives of various parties, the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) distanced itself from this document. They said they could not support a unilateral statement that did not name the aggressor and did not reflect the need for proper defense of Ukraine. Despite this, two SPD representatives still signed the letter.

District councilor Wolfgang Seyfried said he would not withdraw his signature because he was put off by the way his parliamentary group distanced itself. At the same time, the leader of the parliamentary faction of the Green Party, Benjamin Raschke, called on other parties to distance themselves.

«You do not sign letters with right-wing extremists», — he said.

Recall that it was previously reported whether Cameron was able to convince Trump to unblock aid to Ukraine: the media learned the details.
