This information was reported by News24, reports “URA” -Inform”.

In most cases, varicose veins are caused by congenital weakness of connective tissue. This means that the walls of the veins practically wear out over the course of life. The legs are especially affected because here blood must be pumped through the heart, fighting against gravity.

If the walls of the vein become very elastic, blood accumulates in some places and varicose veins or spider veins develop. Prevention is also important because varicose veins can lead to complications in later stages, from pain to swollen legs and dangerous blood clots or ulcers.

Prevention

< p>To prevent varicose veins and the formation of spider veins, it is important, first of all, to move a lot. It is best if exercise is carried out regularly, this will strengthen the connective tissue. You should choose jogging or walking, as well as other sports that involve intense leg movements, such as badminton.

If possible, long periods of sitting or standing should be avoided. In the office, it can be helpful to take a few steps regularly. It is better to use stairs instead of elevators and escalators. Climbing stairs can also help prevent varicose veins.

Exercise

If your job involves a lot of standing or sitting, a few simple exercises can protect your veins :

sitting: lift your legs and rotate both feet alternately inward and outward. Or lift your legs and pull them towards you several times before straightening them again;

standing: stand on your tiptoes several times, and then lower your entire foot, and so on several times ;

After sitting or standing for a long time, you need to raise your legs.

These exercises are also suitable as a preventive measure for thrombosis during long trips. They can be produced on a bus or plane.

Shoes

If you are prone to varicose veins, high-heeled shoes should be worn only on special occasions; you should choose them for every day flat shoes. It is useful to walk barefoot on soft surfaces, ideally on sand by the sea.

It is important to remember that you can only partially prevent varicose veins yourself, but it is impossible to completely get rid of them. Therefore, you should contact a vein specialist at the first appearance of varicose veins for treatment.
