The Ukrainian military decided to retreat west of the settlements of Berdychi, Semenovka and Novomikhailovka in the Donetsk region in order to save the lives of their personnel.
This was stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky, in his Telegram, reports URA-Inform.
According to the commander-in-chief, Russian troops are trying to develop an offensive with up to four brigades to the west Avdeevka and Marinka. Their goal — break through to Pokrovsk and Kurakhovo in the Donetsk region.
«To save the life and health of our defenders, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces have moved to new lines west of Berdychi, Semenovka and Novomikhailovka», — noted Syrsky.
He emphasized that although the Russian side achieved some tactical successes in these areas, it failed to gain an operational advantage.
«The Ukrainian military inflicts maximum losses on the enemy, both in personnel and in military equipment. To strengthen the defense in these directions, we are moving brigades that have restored combat capability in order to replace units that have suffered losses», — added the commander-in-chief.
