Details : The assistance package included, in particular, additional ammunition for the NASAMS and HIMARS systems, artillery shells of 155 mm and 105 mm caliber; Stinger anti-aircraft missiles, TOW anti-tank missiles and Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems.
The weapons list also includes more than 15 million rounds of small arms ammunition, demolition ammunition for obstacle clearance, spare parts, medical equipment, and “maintenance and other support equipment.”
Background :
- The White House has previously noted that it has funds for only one package of military aid to Ukraine, after which the funds will dry up without action from Congress.
- US President Joe Biden asked Congress in October to approve additional funding, including more than $60 billion for Ukraine. But it stalled in the Senate due to bipartisan differences over border security with Mexico.
- Last week it became known that the US Senate would not vote on an aid package to Ukraine until the end of the year.
