The Commander-in-Chief noted that the first serviceman died for Ukraine as a result of Russian aggression in Crimea. “This is warrant officer Sergei Kokurin, who died in a shootout against Russian invaders on March 18, 2014, during the Russians’ assault on the photogrammetric center of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Simferopol,” Syrsky said.
He added that “the evil empire and its the apostates dreamed of conquering Ukraine in three days and capturing our capital Kiev. But they did not take into account the unity and resilience of the Ukrainian people. The occupiers broke their teeth on the unbending titans – the defenders and defenders of the Independence of Ukraine.”
