The impact of the attack on generation facilities and Main substations, according to the official, were felt in 12 regions. However, the enemy sought not just to hit some specific thermal power plants, but to completely leave Ukraine without electricity.
The minister calls this blow to the energy sector the biggest since the start of a full-scale war. In 2022-2023, the Russians used about 100 weapons at a time, in this case – 150.
Mr. Galushchenko claims that there is good news: the system turned out to be stable and integral. He recalled that “we lived without restrictions all winter, not because attacks did not occur, but they were more regional in nature.”
As for assessing the consequences of the enemy’s actions, it takes time to name the amount for restoration. “The relevant services are working 24/7 to get access to the equipment as soon as possible. We will sort out the rubble, we will look, we will understand,” the minister concluded.
- The worst situation with electricity is in the Kharkov region: shutdown schedules have been introduced there for a week.
- The Ministry of Energy reported that as a result of the attack on March 22, more than a million consumers were left without electricity.
