Opening such centers at hospitals is faster than building new facilities.
Along with the construction of rehabilitation centers, it is also necessary to expand the network of departments for rehabilitation veterans in regional hospitals. This opinion was voiced by President Vladimir Zelensky during a visit to the restored Borodyansky Center for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation, which the Russian occupiers completely destroyed in March 2022.
The head of state noted that opening such centers at hospitals is faster than building new facilities.
“This depends not only on the Ministry of Veterans, but also on local authorities. And on the Ministry of Health. We met with the Prime Minister, with the Minister of Health, they are creating a large network in regional hospitals. This is faster than building an entire center. Today, during during the war, a parallel process is the right approach. In hospitals, this must be done very quickly, because rehabilitation is needed now. We need to use all capabilities, all infrastructure and all ministries. It’s right that everyone is doing this together,” Zelensky emphasized.
For the restoration of the center in Borodyanka, the President donated a prize of $100 thousand, which he received with the award of the Freedom Medal.
Space was created here for psychological, social support, physical education and sports rehabilitation of veterans, their families and families of fallen defenders and defenders. Psychologists of the institution will accompany veterans in teaching self-help methods and first psychological aid in stressful situations, and the center has also created a space for educational events, training for the successful return of veterans to civilian life.
The institution has equipped nine hotel rooms for outpatient stays. The rehabilitation program for veterans is free thanks to the attraction of donor funds.
It is planned that in a year the center will receive an average of more than two thousand veterans.
