Kiev is interested in using a drone for reconnaissance deep behind enemy lines.
Ukraine has become increasingly interested in the American reconnaissance UAV MQ-9 Reaper, reports European Pravda with reference to Politico.
This drone was in first place on the list of the most desired assistance from partners. The UAV has received increased interest from Kyiv as our state plans deals for the summer. To this end, the search continues for new ways to identify targets deep behind enemy lines.
Kyiv was initially interested in the MQ-9 Reaper as a strike and surveillance weapon. Now the emphasis has changed: Kyiv is interested in using a drone for reconnaissance.
According to the publication, the United States is still hesitant to provide these UAVs because they fear that Russia could shoot them down and obtain the technology.

- Last year in February, it became known that the American weapons manufacturer General Atomics had offered to buy two Reaper MQ-9 drones for a dollar to the Ukrainian government ahead of a supposed Russian offensive. But the agreement required Kyiv to spend about $10 million on training and delivery of aircraft to Ukraine and about $8 million annually on maintenance and support of older models of drones that are not currently used in our state.
