President Volodymyr Zelensky responded to the petition to reserve 100% of the personnel of the State Emergency Service. He noted that 90% of rescuers have already been reserved from mobilization.
This was reported by the press service of the President's Office.
The petition was posted on June 2 and has already collected 27,194 votes out of the required 25,000, so it was considered by the president. The author of the petition called for the entire personnel of the State Emergency Service, the operational rescue service and other military-liable civil defense workers to be reserved from mobilization. She emphasized that rescuers “carry out an important mission in the rear,” especially in wartime. But as of May 18, 2024, 50% of the State Emergency Service employees had their reservations removed.
Zelensky agreed with the author of the petition that the work of rescuers has become especially dangerous today. But he emphasized that any issue “requires a balanced approach” and we must not forget about our country's defense needs.
The president recalled that, at the request of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the approach to the reservation of State Emergency Service employees has already been changed – 90% of the service's personnel are not subject to mobilization. The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Igor Klimenko also reported this on June 7. Earlier, the Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov reported that large Internet providers and mobile operators will be able to book all workers. The corresponding decision was supported by the government.
