Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina failed to advance to the semifinals of Roland Garros 2025, suffering a loss in the quarterfinal match to world No. 1 Iga Swiatek. The match, held on June 4, ended with a score of 6–4, 6–2 in favor of the Polish player, reports Baltimore Chronicle.

Svitolina opened the match with a confident service game, but Swiatek quickly broke serve and took control of the first set. Despite efforts to recover and push back, the Polish player’s dominance on the court was evident. The second set unfolded entirely under Swiatek’s control — she closed the match confidently, converting two more break points.

This marked Svitolina’s second consecutive quarterfinal at Roland Garros since returning to the tour. Last year, she also exited the tournament at this stage. Swiatek, on the other hand, continues her title defense and will face the winner of the Marketa Vondrousova vs. Jasmine Paolini match in the semifinal.

The match between Svitolina and Swiatek lasted just over an hour. Iga hit four aces, committed no double faults, and converted four out of seven break points. Svitolina was unable to win a single game on Swiatek’s serve.
