Today, 5th spring, France elected a new prime minister. He became the 73-year-old Michel Barnier.
RBC-Ukraine reports about this in a post on Le Figaro.
As evidence shows, Barnier has a political summary of the widower's hand. In due course he was:
- member of parliament;
- President of the General Assembly for Savoy;
- Minister (Ministry of Civil Protection, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of the Rural State);
- eurocommissar (two);
- Head negotiator for the European Union (EU) before Brexit.
French President Emmanuel Macron asked Barnier to “formulate a government system that serves the country and the French people.”
“This importance arose after an unprecedented cycle of consultations, during which, obviously before his constitutional obligation, the President guaranteed that the Prime Minister and the upcoming government to change the minds, How to allow them to be as stable as possible and give them the opportunity to receive broader support,” the presidential administration said.
What's happening in France
After the elections to the European Parliament, which were still in full swing, Macron dissolved the French National Assembly and voted for pre-term parliamentary elections. Already after the 2nd round of elections, Prime Minister Gabriel Attal announced that he was about to resign.
In the end, the president declared that he would not consider the new order of the country to be “the middle of the sickle.”
