“In Kharkiv (40 km from the Russian border), I saw the consequences of intensive Russian bombing. Apartments are destroyed. There is a shortage of electricity. Children go to school in bunkers,” he wrote.
Brekelmans stressed that Ukraine can defend itself against this in only one way – by keeping Russia at a greater distance.

Earlier, Brekelmans said that the Ukrainian military can hit military targets on Russian territory with Dutch weapons. He stressed that international law does not limit the distance for self-defense against an aggressor. The Netherlands has provided significant military assistance to Ukraine since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion. In particular, combat vehicles: T-72 tanks (45 units), YPR tracked armored vehicles (196 units), Fennek reconnaissance vehicles and Viking tracked vehicles. Fire support systems: PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers (eight units) and 120 mm mortars. Air defense systems: two Patriot SAM launchers with associated missiles, MR-2 mobile anti-aircraft gun systems (100 units), missiles and air defense missile systems such as Stinger.
